Software
I am using thetis. there are 2 versions of thetis one for the anan and one for the hermes
I downloaded the Thetis 2.10.3.3 installer from this address. you need to install this first.

secondly i downloaded the hermes 2 beta version 2.10.3.3 from this address. this has no installer just unzip to a directory of your choice and run the thetis.exe

Once i had it running you need to do a few things
Number 1: to enable transmit go into setup, go to general and then to subtab labeled pa control.
make sure Enable PA is checked or you will get no power out.
Number 2: under setup audio select your audio devicesyou want for input and output
To actually hear the audio you will need to enable vac1
Number 3: right click on AGC Gain control. it will turn green and automatically adjust reciever gain as needed. this control is similar to RF Gain control on most radios.
